Monitoring the people you look after, with their approval
Family Monitor lets an approved person follow someone’s movement, set safe zones with arrival and departure alerts, and review a daily timeline. Access always requires a request and an approval.
- Monitoring is never silent — A request must be sent and approved before anyone can be monitored.
- Family Monitor requires Pro — Free accounts see an upgrade prompt instead of the page.
- The three people tabs — Family, Monitoring You, and Requests.
- Setting up monitoring for someone — Create a group, send a request, and wait for their approval.
- What the detail panel shows — Last seen, emergency state, speed and motion, plus saved locations and a timeline.
- Safe zones and arrival or departure alerts — A named circle on the map that raises an event when someone arrives or leaves.
- Routines: expected arrival and departure times — Tell SafX when someone is normally somewhere, so an exception stands out.
- Reading the timeline — A dated list of arrivals, departures and emergency events.
- Common problems and fixes — Why data is missing or alerts are noisy.
Frequently asked questions
Can I monitor someone on SafX without them knowing?
No. Monitoring requires a request that the other person must accept, and every approved monitor is permanently listed on their Monitoring You tab where it can be revoked at any time. Covert monitoring is not possible and breaches the Safety and Acceptable Use Policy.
How do SafX safe zones work?
A safe zone is a named circle on the map, 150 metres in radius by default, attached to a group or to one member. When the monitored person arrives at or leaves that circle, an event appears in their timeline. If you get repeated arrive and leave events, increase the radius.
